Question Air Lids

I was looking at my stock 02 Z28 air lid the other day and noticed that the underside of the lid has all kinds of plastic webbing molded into it. Just out of curiosity if you cut all of that webbing out, would the stock lid flow as good as or comparable to the aftermarket ones? Anybody have any flow numbers for the stock lid to compare to the aftermarket ones?

Well, until I got around to ordering a new lid, I removed all that crap from under my OEM air lid.

But, an aftermarket lid will do more than just remove all the ribs. It will be smooth as glass, have a larger opening where it connects directly to the MAF and removes the air silencers.

You can get lids for under $100 .... buy a lid and a Holley PowerShot filter and be done with it.

The aftermarket lid is definately the way to go. I've got the whisper motorsports lid with k&N and love it. Picked up a suprising amount of horsepower too. Go to www.thunderracing.com they've got a really good package deal.

I agree with what is said..go with an aftermarket air lid. You'll be happy once you install one
