Air Intake

Air Intake
I know this horse has been beat to death... but... so I have a 2002 SS Convertible. It has the WU8 package but no other SLP options and no SLP sticker. It has the SS Hood but the air filter housing is stock (There is a K&N filter). So is there a gain in efficiency, HP, Torque, etc. by going to an aftermarket lid? If it is true then is there a brand/type that is superior? Has anyone done/seen comparisons other than seat of pants? Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Air Intake
We just don't have many LS1 owners left on this site. I'd guess that 90+% of the tech posts deal with the LT1. Sad, but true. I was hoping someone would respond, but no luck.

Re: Air Intake
The SS hood in reality gives you nothing, follow the flow of air from the scoop to the air box. The K&N air filter is basically nothing. If you want more power with what you have, open up the bottom of the air box since it only has a small opening.

Re: Air Intake
My 02 has a custom fabricated intake for the SLP lid/intake box with a larger MAS.
Previous owner did the work (USAF aircraft fabricator) in aluminum. Hard to see it but he claims to have spent some time on the design.
It is one of 2 in existence, never on dyno/measured so no idea how effective it is.
But she sounds and performs great
