Air Induction on 94Z28 with LS1 Installed
Air Induction on 94Z28 with LS1 Installed
Installed the LS1 from my wrecked 98 Formula into my new project -- a 94 Z28. The install went very well. Fitment is excellent.
Here is my problem. The LS1 air induction lid from my Formula will not fit under the hood of the Camaro -- it is too tall.
I'm not an LT1 person, but probably need to find one and look into how air induction works on that car.
Anyway, for those of you who have done both, give me your ideas on something that flows well and is low enough profile to mate to the LS1 throttle body.
Thanks.

You've got two problems ...the first, which you've already figured out- you're short room to fit a lid under the hood.
Second, the air flow under a LT1 hood is different from and LS1. The LS1 is designed to bring air in through the "catfish" nostrils in the grill, feed it up through the bumper, splash it against the hood and feed it to the airbox.
The LT1 picks it's air up by the driver headlight and feeds through a ducting system through the MAF and to the TB.
Your best bet might be to get a something like a FIPK for a 97, which is adapted to fit a MAF. Then fabricate a feed from the MAF to the TB. Or maybe something designed to work on the Holden Manaro, which I beleive also has a feed from the left side.
Good Luck
