air duct

Just wanted to know whether the air duct (GM part no. 25147186) is the same for both the LS1 and LT1.

Since mines' an LS1 i'm a bit hesitant in ordering it since the seller says that the part he has in stock is for 95-97 models (same part number). My shop guy says that it will be the same since its an emission part and not a part of the engine.

thanks.

That part number is for the performance LT1 intake elbow, or 1LE intake elbow. It will not work on your car.

^^^+1, LT1 TB is oval shaped, while LS1 TB is circular, hence different air ducts.

Identical to what? The LS1 has an intake and induction setup that is unique to the LS1, as is the case with many other things. That part number is a rubber intake elbow for an LT1 car, period. Not to be rude or anything, but I don't care what your parts guy says. Just because it's not "an emission part" doesn't mean damn thing, and shows his ignorance of the platform, and ALL vehicles in general. It will not fit your car.

I mean same part number for LS1 and LT1.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to source this part, nobody has it in Dubai, and only one seller is willing to ship out of the US who again has the one which fits LT1.

For how long can i keep driving with a damaged duct?
any suggestions please. Thanx.

Is it the air duct that connects the MAF to the TB?
I would try to fix/replace it soon, a vacuum leak can really affect driveablity.
How bad is is damaged? You could try to tape/epoxy it until the replacement arrives.

EDIT: See if you can have this shipped to you:

Having a damaged intake bellows will not cause a vacuum leak. It will however create an unmetered air leak, which will throw off the air/fuel mixture and likely throw some lean codes like P0171 and P0174.

Does Dubai have hardware stores, or diesel truck parts stores like in America? You don't need to use the GM accordian style bellows. You can use just about any flexible coupler that fits. Silicone hose, reinforced rubber plumbing hose, and hump hose all will work. You just need it to be 4" on the throttle body end and 3" on the MAF end. Get about a foot of it and cut to fit.

Edit: Did a little research for you. The GM part number for the LS1 intake bellows that connects the MAF sensor to the throttle body is 25170358 and costs about $20 USD Give that part number to any local GM dealer (they have them over there right ), and they should be able to get it for you.

Thanks for giving me the right part number and the advice Marc85 & ss.slp. I would have been on a totally wrong track if it were'nt for you.

ws6project has the part ($26) and is quoting me the price incl. shipping. Also i've got in touch with a seller called Brocks Camaro & Firebird (803 955 3181) from whom I could be ordering in future too. A nice guy to work with.
