After Headers SES can't be removed

About a month ago I installed my Jet Hot LT Headers, the 02 extentions, were not included in the kit. So after putting the Headers on I later put the 02 extentions in, immediately removing the SES light. However, after a few weeks, the SES light came back on, look under the car and the extention on the left headers was burnt. So I replaced the extention with a new 3 feet extention allowing me to place the extention no where near the header. The SES remained on after the new extention, so went to AutoZone, ran the scan they said it was the O2's triggering the SES. But they deleted the code for me, SES light went off for a week, today started the car the freaking SES came back, how do I get rid of this light. Will the O2 Sims remove it for sure, b/c I hate this light. Also I pretty sure there's no way the new extention could have been damaged the way I positioned it.

Re: After Headers SES can't be removed

You need 02 sims or have the rear 02s programmed out. That should fix it.

Does everyone have to get the 02 sims after the header inorder to lose the SES, or is it only needed in some cases, like mine. The reason I ask is b/c I thought the reason why I kept the cats in was so that I wouldn't get the SES light.

Also are the 02 sims plug and play or do you still need programming inorder for the SES to go off.

Re: After Headers SES can't be removed

When I put on my headers I was able to drive for about a month before my SES came on. After checking and rechecking everything twice I decided to pull my O2's out to check them and I discovered that I had accidently got anti-seize on them and when I checked with my local garage they said after time the chemicals in the anti-seize cause the sensor to malfunction. Just thought I would pass along some info. Also I bought a scanmaster, the best tool for the $$$ since that is what I used to clear the code. Good luck!

the o2 sims should take care of your problem. i think it was 95 or 96+ when the cars needed the o2 sims to turn the ses off.

If you are going to get the PCM tuned and have those sensors programmed out don't bother with the sims, it would be a waste of money. What I would do would be cut the harness of the old O2 sensors that you won't be using anymore and plug them in just to keep the connector from getting hogged out.

if you have a scanner or take it to a shop, they plug it into the diagnostic port under the dash and it will throw a code like po314 or something of that nature. thats what hes looking for.

I will need 2 front o2 extensions as I am getting the rears deleted. People have told me to wait 2 weeks to put the extensions on? Would I lose performance if I did that?
