advantage of AFR 205s over Dart 205s?
what is the difference between these two heads that makes the $600-700 price difference.
is it just the added "reputation" of AFR that makes it?
better materials? parts (springs, ti retainers)? better performance?
Darts:
2.020" Intake Valves
1.600" Exhaust Valves
62cc Combustion Chambers
205cc Intake Port
flow at .550" lift is 210/296 E/I
the AFR heads have 66cc chamber assembled with 2.02" / 1.60" Valves, dual coil valve springs, and titanium retainers.
they flow 226/292 E/I at .550" lift
they also have a 66cc combustion chamber.
i would think they would perform similar, with possibly a bit more power potential in the Darts due to the smaller chamber.
$1500 compared to almost $2200 ...is it really worth it?

but those all have the bigger intake runner volume, i like the idea of the increased low and mid range with the 205cc intake.
i remember someone on here picking up 50lb-ft of torque on a cammed LS1 with the AFR heads.
that's alot!!

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have fresh info to add. I have flow numbers of AFR 205s and Dart 205s right here in front of me, and the AFR heads win by quite some margin. (Numbers off the same bench.)
There is only a 3cfm advantage at max flow, but the mid-low numbers on the AFR heads kill the Darts. They have a 20 CFM advantage over the Darts from .200 to .350".
A flowbench doesn't tell all, so it's possible there may only be a small difference in real-life testing, but on the bench the gold goes to the AFR heads.

Hard to believe the stock 241 heads keep up with and 243 heads kick the Dart's *** on the low lift.. Damn. I wonder what a 225cc Dart would have done?
