my car has been doing that,,,it sounds like a saw or a sander the faster i go such on the interstate or highway at speeds of 60-80mph its loud could it be my rear end going bad also when i put the car in gear i hear a popping noise from under the car i know its not the trans (a4) cause it dont always make the noise until i pull out PLEASE HELP


IF THE CAR ISNT STOCK I DIDNT PUT IT THERE

 

maybe rear transmission mount, or a universal joint. those are easy things to check.

If the whine is RPM dependent (rises and falls with the RPMs), it could be your trans pump. Incorrect line pressures will definitely affect your shifting (like when you put it in gear). If it's MPH dependent (rises and falls along with MPH), then it's on the mechanical side - so look at the parts mentioned above.

 

I had that same thing happen to mine,turned out to be the rear pinion bearings.Cost me $500 to get it fixed.There's evidently a problem with some of them cause I called Chevrolet & complained & they re-imbursed me the cost of the repair !
