Accessory belt?
Accessory belt?
Has anyone ever had the problem of your car throwing the accessory belt? Happened to me to today on my 2002 Trans Am, come out of my driveway and accelerate hard down the road and lose the belt shifting into 2nd or 3rd.
The check gauges light comes on and I’m like what the HELL!
Slow down and try and turn around, SOB no power steering. So I get the car turned around and go park it back in the garage. Walk down the road and there’s my accessory belt laying in the middle of the dang road.
The belt is now missing a few one inch sections on some of the inside ribs, but in different areas. Now I’ve looked at all the pulleys and belt tensioners and they all seem to line up and nothing is loose. So should I just replace the belt and not worry or is there something that might need to be fixed?
It seems to me that the belt tensioner to the right of the crank when your looking at the engine and below the water pump should have guide lips or edges on it like the pulleys have. The car also has a Meizere Electric water pump along with the ASP Underdrive pulley with the correct short belt, if that has anything to do with it throwing the belt.
