Finally HERE!!!

Fellas I just drove my 99 TA home from Amsterdam, and all I can say is holy $hit!!! The night and day difference between that and my LB9 TA is unreal! I almost jizzed my britches when I nailed it at 70 and it kept pulling! I couldn't really open it up due to traffic. I gotta take my time with this one. Unbelievable! I don't know what to do next!

Re: Finally HERE!!!

congrats...

yeah that is one heck of an upgrade.

similar to how most ricers feel when they ride in one for the first time...torque down low and tons of pull on top.

any mods on it? any planned?

Re: Finally HERE!!!

Thanks fellas.
So far all i've done is 3.73's, SLP aluminum girdle with cooling fins, Auburn heavy duity posi unit, SFC's and LCA's. I just hooked up with Al Austin and will be ordering a SSRA asap, and an Air lid. After those the cat back and maybe a panhard bar. I also had a full tune up and fresh synthetics done.

I am still decinding on the exhaust. I don't want it nearly as loud as my GTA with Flowmaster catback and Edlebrock TES, any suggestion? I want it to rumble but keep the sleepr look?

Re: Finally HERE!!!

Magnaflows sound pretty good on LS1's. Do you plan on keeping the cats?

Re: Finally HERE!!!

For now i say yes to the cats because i'm military and i don't know where i'll be going next. Emmisions lawas area pain in some states or countries. What did you have in mind?

Also what makes the vetes have a higher hp rating for the same year non Z06 version? I know the dual exhaust plays a part, but did they get better Heads and cam or intake? Maybe a better prom?

What do you say to the programmers like Diablo sport? Worthwhile or a waste? I need my speedo recalibrated and I believe this is the only alternative right?

Re: Finally HERE!!!

I would think that the vettes have a different tune. The engines are the same as for as i know. As for as a programmer Diablo is good, also check into LS1 Edit. I have been hearing good results from them.

The C5's are virtually the same. Acutally a little less whp in the real world due to the IRS. The higher rating is due GM's marketing.

No LS1's use a prom. Its all in the PCM. To tune you actually get the PCM reprogrammed.

Programmers are a waste. A mail order tune is cheaper and better, but a dyno tune is the best. Only handheld programmer I'd even think about is the Crane, but for it's cost you can damn near buy software to tune w/a laptop.

I like my Diablo Sport Predator. And contrary to some others thoughts they are not a waste. If you don't want to learn to tune yourself, need custom tunes, don't want to wait for you PCM to be shipped to the tuner and back, and don't have a tuning shop nearby then the Predator might be the right tool for you, as it is for me.
Go to their website and check it out. They do much more than other hand helds and can get custom tunes via e-mail.

Re: Finally HERE!!!

You don't have to wait for the ECU to be shipped to a tuner and back if you do an exchange. Thats what I did. They shipped me one tuned and I slipped it in my car and sent my other back.

Again, if you want a handheld look into the Crane. Much more adjustable plus it comes with several tunes.

Remember that this guy is NOT in the USA. How long will it take from the time that he needs a tune 'till the computer gets to him and how much will it cost????????????????????
