A4
My cousin who has a 2000 Mustang GT with a 5 speed dogged me for getting an a4, I really got him going when I said I got it it because my wife likes to drive it sometimes. The real reason is that I am on the road for a living and a stick is just a pain in traffic. Well any way he challenged me thinking he was going to smoke me at the track. I had never been to the track before but I have been driving muscle cars for 30 years. I have owned both autos and manuals, manuals are fun autos are equally as fun ( nail your a4 at 40 and try to wipe the smile off your face ie, the slingshot effect.). Anyway needless to say I smoked him bad, I ran consistant 13.4's at 104mph. He ran anywhere from 14.8's to a best of 14.1 with a slew of mods. I never heard so much whining about no traction and a miriad of other excuses in my life, I humbled him bad. The two fastest cars I have owned have been autos ( I owned a Booth & Arons built 67 400 Firebird long ago.). I realize I am comparing apples to oranges (Camaro & Mustang), but just enjoy what you have and relish spanking stick drivers who are more macho than good ( though you will get spanked by a good stick driver occasionally.). In other words, it's all good.

Some guy with his mustang actually asked me today if my car was a A4 or M6, and when I said A4 he said that's a waste of a car and blah blah.
Well anyways here's my question...what is the best TC and gear setup for a daily driver. Also what will this do to my gas mileage, and should I be expecting high 12's really low 13's with it and my current setup? thx

On a stock cam I would say 3.23 or 3.42 gears with a nice 3500 stall TC like the TCI SSF3500 would be a great combo in a daily driver. It would be very comfortable for city driving and still kick some a$$ at the track if traction can be found.
Gas mileage should go up a tad in the city but not be affected on the highway. Nothing major to worry about gas mileage wise. I'd expect high 12's with traction, mid 12's with all the standard bolt-ons (lid, catback, Headers) and some good weather.
Nice job on the TTT of this thread
Lol it's cool though. I actually read this thread a few months ago when I did a search and wanted to add a few comments. I guess now is my chance.
M6's are fun. No doubt about that and the they rule the Dyno's. But A4's with big stalls rule the track. But they can also rule that track on the stock 10 bolt rear end
Personally I'd rather get the lower ET's then the higher Dyno numbers. But that's just me. Sure there are times I am zipping through town and I really wish I had a manual. But there are a lot of times I'm stuck in heavy traffic and glad that I don't. Plus my TC goes in pretty soon so I can't wait to bust some M6 chops at the track when spring hits.
Besides this way my wife can drive the car too. Oh wait that was a minus not a plus, DOH! But then again if her car breaks down at least she could drive it safely while we get it fixed.
