6.0 to 5.7

the truck is a 2000 chevy 2500 6.0l, and I was thinking of putting my old 98 heads on this motor to pick up some compression and add some horsepower.

Would this be a problem? Would everything work out ok? I know about the coil brackets and different valve covers, but we can re-use all my old stuff.

What about the intakes? Would it be worth it to throw on my old ls1 intake...or would it make no difference?

Does anyone know the cam specs on this truck?

Everything should work out fine. Use the truck intake, it will flow about even with a LS6.

Re: 6.0 to 5.7

I am trying to help out a friend. He wants the truck to have a little better pick up, kind of like a 5.3 z71.

I know the LQ4 intake is good, but is the regular (non LQ) 6.0 intake the same?

Are your old heads ported? Otherwise I believe your truck heads flow better.

Don't know for sure but I thought that the mag that did the dyno comparo used a regular truck intake and it was = to the LS6.

But here's the ? will the better comp ratio make more power than the better head flow?

Re: 6.0 to 5.7

Thats what were hoping. But we have a machine shop available to us. So we are gonna do some miled hand porting to them ourselves as well.

Also....do you guys think my 98 cam would be good in his truck. Or would it kill too much low end?

Does anyone have the 6.0 truck cam specs to compare.

Well let's see.............the 01 and 02 f-bodies supposedly have the truck cam in them (they seem to run alright ) so I'd probably do just the head work.

It was the LQ4 intake. A regular 6.0 isn't an LQ4. I just don't know if the intake is the same. It is very possible it is.
