Question 4.10 vs 3.73 gears

What would I loose going from 4.10 gears to 3.73.I really only street race.I just purchased a set of 4.10 gears. They have not been installed yet but I am sure I will have to replace them soon after installing them.If the3.73 set will last longer but still give about the same performance as the 4.10s.I will back down to the 3.73 set the next time.Would it be a good idea to learn to install gears myself or should I leave it to the pros.If so anyone have any good install links? I have access to a programmer to set my speedometer.
I do understand that I need a better rear end.I have to get headers first.

You'll probably notice better gas mileage and regain some traction on the street just less punch off the line at the track. I don't have too much experience with gears so I'm just guessing here. I went with a 12bolt and 3.73s since I do street race a lot and plan to go with a single turbo. Anyway back to the top! ^^^^
