4.10 4.11 Gear strength
Phantom,
I think you should listen to us, as we have direct physical and mathematical experiece in this respect. You are correct about using thicker gears with a 2 series carrier, but that is completely irrelevant in this case, because: we all have a three series carrier(except for some 2.73 schmoes), and the teeth in the 4.11 are lateraly thicker, not the overall thickness of the gear. Yes, the thickness you are referring to would not make the gear stronger.

I counted the teeth and did the math. They are 4.11 gears. They were made in Italy. They were Motive brand. The box was red and white.
This is good news for those that want the higher ratio without the higher breakage of the 4.10s. The 4.11s thicker gear base will definitely take more guff than the 4.10s.
But I too have never heard of these gears before this thread. Motives made in Italy huh. I'll have to check it out.

this is the first ive heard of 4.11's as well
Damn Whiny 4 series gears!!! I'm gonna try to get mine set up again, after it started howling this week. At least my mechanic is getting a new set of gears to start with instead of readjusting the old ones, which would have worn improperly by now. One more 4.11 in the mail! Second times the charm!

Surprise! Care to guess what I have at home?
My mechanic put all my old grenaded rear parts in a box for me. I didn't even open it up. When I opened it up last night to show the parts to a friend of mine, the Motive box was in there, too.
So ... when I get home this afternoon, I'll get all the info that you wanted.

I just received Motive (4.10's) via ups the box does say made in Italy, I have 37 teeth on the ring gear and 9 on the pinion, the part number on the box is G875410, of course the label below that says F890500 ?
