382 effect on fuel economy

I have a chance to get a 382 LS1 SS car, but it will be my daily driver. With a mild cam, untouched heads, and exhaust what kind of effect do you think it would have on fuel economy and driveability (considering it is tuned with LS1 edit)? Thanks

IMO, you shouldn't notice much difference between a stock LS1 or a 382 LS1, as long as you drive "normally" on the street, since the 382 will make more torque, and therefore have an easier time moving the car (think "power-to-weight" ratio).

I know when I put the 383 in my '81 Z28, I actually got much better mileage than with the original 350, but if I opened it up a lot, then I got worse.

ditto on that

with more torque you should get better mileage when not on the throttle

My buddy swapped from an olds 350 to a 403 in his el camino and got way better mileage (and performance)

of course when he hauled *** then you could almost watch the fuel gauge going down
