I heard that LS1s are exactly 346.6. So if that's right, rounded up, 347 is correct.

This is a funny discussion. However, all of you are wrong about the bore. The actual bore of the LS1 is 3.898"!

If you don't believe me, get a micrometer and find out!

Ummm, don't you think we'd need more than just a micrometer to find out? I mean, the engine in my car is currently fully assembled and in running condition, so I'd have to tear it all down to be able to measure the cylinder bores?! I think I may need a few wrenches, a ratchet and some sockets, and maybe a few other tools as well!

Also, I've never seen the bore listed as 3.898", only ever 3.9", but I guess nobody cares about that .002" so they round up! But I also wonder if the bore isn't actually 3.625", but for the same reason, they always just say 3.62"??

Oh well..........it still comes out "around" 346!!!

I know, I was just being technical, since others were doing the same! In the end, who cares how big it is...all I care is that its got 8 cylinders and makes good power!

That's ok! Don't mind me.........I had nothing better to do than sit with a calculator and figure out all the combinations based on the #'s I knew! What can I say? I need a life!

The reason for the weird decimal numbers is that the LS1 is speced out in silly milly meters And we, being the stubborn citizens of the great US of A, always convert them to decimal inches

sorry to bring this back to top, probably ought to just let it die, but i'll add my $0.02 since i recently got flamed for calling the LS1 a 350 on my website.

the owner's manual lists the LS1 at 5.662 L, which converts to 345.5 cubic inches. i rounded it to 4 significant digits since GM uses 4 significant digits in their "5.662L" measurement. and, as we all learned in freshman chemistry, the product cannot have more significant digits than any of the individual measurements.

sorry, don't mean to sound like a smart ***. i'll just agree with whoever posted above that "there's 8 cylinders and it makes good power".

The sticker on the fan shroud on my '01 Z28 reads "347".
