Question Was the 345hp option available in 2001?

A kid that sits next to me in one of my classes said he almost bought a 2001 Camaro SS. He went on to brag about it saying its a vert and that it has 345hp and could beat mine. I thought the 345hp package was only on 2002 models. He had to sit in the passenger seat while his dad test drove it. Anyways I want shut him up about a car he can't even afford.

No, it wasn't available in 2001, only in 2002. You are right. I know cause I ordered my 2001 and all they had was the 335 hp package, which was the exhaust while the 345 came out in 2002 with the exhaust and the air lid. I do believe firehawks were 345 in 2001 though...

Nope, the 345 package wasn't available for SS's until 2002.

that is correct, not only was it only in 02', but wasn't even available until almost mid year of production for the 02's.

2001's had either 325 or 335, depending on whether they had the better exhaust.

I have a 2001 SS with the center-mounted exhaust package. The regular SS's in 2001 had 325 HP, and with the CME option it brings it to 335 HP. 345 HP wasn't available until 2002 (supposedly), but they underrate those engines occasionally for different reasons. I don't know that there's actually any difference to make the '02's faster.

But bottom line ... the original factory sticker for my car says 335 HP with the center-mounted exhaust package.

Maybe they introduced the 35th LE in 2001, but we all know the 35th LE is a 2002 model.
