Because they don't have the guts to run 4.10's .

In all honesty, I had 3.73's in my car 2 years ago, then I put 4.10's in last summer, and there's not really a big difference between those 2. Until the winter hit, I was driving my car back-and-forth to work every day on the highway (cruising at speeds upwards of ~80 mph, which is ~3000 - 3100 RPM!) and the gas mileage wasn't as bad as you'd expect. Sure, I lost about ~60 - 70 miles per tank, but considering the gear in the back, that's not as bad as I would have expected.

The hole shot you get with the 4.10's is amazing though. Oh, and contrary to popular belief, they don't spin and spin all day long either. Actually, I find the car hooks just as well (or better?) than it used to with 2.73's. I did put new tires on last year, but even on STREET TIRES, I cut a 1.92 60' time, in contrast to a best of 2.1 with 2.73's.
