Re: 3.73 or 4.10s??

If you have a 6spd get the 4:10s, youll still be able to get about 23-25mpg highway easily. Dont worry about the driving you do a few days out of the year. If you have an auto get 3:73s.

Agreed....with a 6 speed, you want 4.10s!!!

Re: 3.73 or 4.10s??

would 4.56 be overkill with a 6 speed?

With 4.56's, you'll be hitting 5th gear in the 1/4 mile, unless you run much bigger tires, and a real high red-line. Also, for street driving, 1st gear would be over in a blink.....you'd probably get into a habit of starting in 2nd all the time. I'd say stick with 4.10's.

4.10's were probably my best mod so far. You won't be dissapointed.

Re: 3.73 or 4.10s??

Well, I might as well chine in, I like my 3.73's with my 6 speed.. I just wanted a little more gear to get rid of that "deadzone" in low rpm's in 1st, and can already get myself into trouble powering out of turns..

But with drag racing and better traction, 4.10's would probable be ideal.

Re: 3.73 or 4.10s??

Dumb question: Why does everyone recommend 4.10s for M6s, but 3.73s for A4s?

Because the 4l60 doesn't have that wide .5 overdrive gear to make highway driving bearable.

4.10's all the way. Put them in my car about 6 months ago and love them. Makes 6th gear actuly use full on the freeway. You'll pull about 2k rpm's at about 80 mph, 90 is about 2300 or so. Like everyone will say it will be the most sotp mod you can do besides a cam.

well after getting my 410s I wished I had gone to 456. Guys that do only 1/8 mile tracks love them, but like the other guy said traction is pretty bad, and the other problem might be more gear whine and easier to break. I rarely go to the track so to me 456 sounds perfect, since they are so much fun on the sreet, althouh first is quick its still pretty darn fun. RPMs will be 200 rpm higher than what the 410s are in 6th gear. Ideally you should gear to what combo your running. 456 gears and stock cam is probably not a good combo since you'll stay at such a high rpm

Re: 3.73 or 4.10s??

I have a 93 A4 LT1 700 R tranny. I was wondering if i should go 373 or 4.11. I dont care about gas milage, i have a 2200 stall. I want the thing to be making as much torque as it can from when i start to when i shift 5500 Rpm. It runs really good now, i have never lost a race in it yet, and ive raced about 10 people now. need some help, thanks
