There is a way you can calibrate your speedometer. And of course changing gears will change your speedometer. Beware though, some places will charge as high as $200 for a speedometer calibration, try to get a hookup or something like that.

well you'll hear OVER ANDS OVER if you have an a4 get a hi stall tc 3000 or so. Its a one stop fix.. You just instal it and go! Huge speed increase!!! TRUST US. fer gears which i got later, Look at dropping $1000 to get them install programmer , diff girdle etc and they are much weaker than2.73. Midwest converters sells em fer about $450! and you'd want say3200 stall and 2.0 str and boom yer car will be WAY faster. Gears wull just prevent u from ever hooking up. And are a big deal to get installed.

Use Search on ls1.com about "midwest" lots of guys got them and posted reviews/opinions!!

Having had an auto I cannot fully agree with the above post.

I had an auto, 3.73 gears alone helped the car immensely.. The car was pulling 1.9 on street tires (Yokohama AVS Intermediates).
The stall is essentially spooling up your engine, developing a lot of torque before its launching.. That is probably why you are no hooking up with them...

For gears on an A4 I suggest 3.73.. Get a programmer or have it calibrated. Call and ask around. If its less than a couple hundred just have it done, if they want more, get a programmer and do it yourself..

The stall does typically drop your et quite a bit... but you will be needing drag radials with them... many people over stall IMO... I wouldnt go over 3100... Do some dyno runs and look at where your torque is and what its doing.. that may help you decide.. If it were me, 2800-3000 is where I would be looking...

If you looking at 3.73 gears, a good TC too look at is the Super Yank 3500. It has a low STR so your launch will be considerably easier. The SY3500 has been known to shave .4-.6 off your 1/4. Match them up with a good launch with DRs and you will cut a good 1 second off.

If you looking at the 3.42 gears, then a 3200 stall would be better with a 2.0-2.5 str. The vig 2800 is a good choice here or a 3200 yank.

As was said above, midwest is also a good convertor, and the price makes it even better. The vig and yank are cream of the crop TCs and average from $700-$1000......Midwest goes for about $450 and so far seems to be a great TC
