3.4 to LS1 swap...time for go fast...

I figured this would be the section to post in so here it goes...

I have decided to swap an LS1 into my 1995 Firebird. I love cars, wanting to eventually open up my own Performance shop and I feel this would be a good way and a fun way to test my skills.

I've concluded I will need:

-LS1 engine with all components
-computer harness
-dash cluster from V8
-T-56
-K-member
-fuel pump/regulator
-LS1/LT1 brake setup
-exhaust

I already have:

-WS.6 suspension including 32/19mm swaybars and springs/shocks
-WS.6 rearend with 3.42 gears and Auburn posi
-1 piece driveshaft

So my suspension is good to accommodate the upgrade.

Yes, I know this will cost between $4500 to $5400, I have done MUCH research. Please don't come into this thread and post comments like, mod your V6 or just sell and get a V8 car, I just would like to do this because I love my car and have too much blood and sweat into it. This is my decision.

The purpose of this thread is to see who all has done the 3.4 V6 to LS1 V8 swaps and see if they can post links and/or a tutorial of some kind or what they used to aid them in their swap.

If you have done this swap PLEASE PM me I would be very greatful to hear your experiences and such, what pissed you off, what you did exactly, and hardships, snags, or easy things...anything I can. Research is KEY before doing a project like this. Wiring as of now is what I think will get me up the *** the most.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Travis

You'll also need a trans crossmember for the t-56, a shifter, and a console with upper and lower shifter boots.
Yeah the biggest stumbling block that I can see is re-pinning the PCM harness so the car side matches up. Getting the cruise control to work might be tough too.

a couple of questions that last time i posted didn't address...

the upper and lower shift boot? what are you talking about there...a console i'll be fine usuing my stock one since my car is already a manual...and cruise control i don't use much anyways...

thanks for the trans crossmember info...and hopefully i'll get another Pro 5.0 shifter before i put it all in...i LOVE mine now!

There's a boot at floor level and the one at the top of the console. Even though your car was a stick the shifter hole still might not be right for a T-56.
If you get a console froma 98 or newer for a stick then you'll get a better console in the process.

Yes but the 98 and up console is nicer. If you have to get one why not get a better one?
