Yep, if it's new then it can't be an S351. If it's a non supercharged S281, you'll eat him alive. If it does have a s/c, then it'll be pretty close, depending on how good of a driver the guy is. It also depends on how many mods are on the Saleen. Bone stock, a good driver can get a s/c'd Saleen to run mid-low 13's. In any case, good luck! Maybe a kill here will ease the sting of that insurance payment.

I know the topic, here, is about your chances against a Saleen Mustang, but "Holy Cow," what some of you guys are paying for insurance is astronomical.

I just switched from State Farm to Pioneer State Mutual, when I bought my SS. They were said to have the best rates around. From shopping insurance, they do.

I had a 4cyl Alero, before my SS and State Farm was charging me, $442 every 6 mos. That's with $500 deductible, broad form collision and $250 deductible, on comprehensive.

The same coverage is running me, just $580, every 6 months, on my SS. Keep in mind I'm 49 years old and that has alot to do with it. The next cheapest company, however, was $350 higher, every 6 months and some companies were double, Pioneer State Mutual's rate. So regardless of age, their rates were by far the best.

If nothing else, it's worth a phone call to get a quote. If you save a ton of money, you could buy those headers, if you want to.

Good luck,
Mark

You have got to remember that age and experience are crucial factors with insurance prices.

This is the first car that I'm insuranced under, basically my first car at 19. Plus I'am a primary driver. I have American Family by the way.

Hey, I got my car when I was 19 also. We put the insurance under my Dad's name because with out that my insurance would have been about $4800 a yr. With my dad (@48 yrs.) he can get the insurance for a little over $300 a yr. I'd suggest changing your insurance and using that money for those mods. you're wanting!

300/year? Don't you mean 300/month? Or 3000/year?

Yeah insurance under 25 sucks. I have had 2 sports cars and have payed up the A*& on insurance. 2000 a year for my 87 eddie bower bronco when i was 16. Maybe it was because my sister had a 92 z28 (i miss that car) and my dad had a 95 5.0. Then i went to my 99 GT when i was 19 insurance went up to about 3000 a year, Then i am 21 and i buy my z28, insurance was down to 957 every 6 months. Keep in mind i have an excellent driving record. Last week my alstate insurance went up to 4700 a year, (Corpus Christi, TX is full of border jumpers who live for frivilous law suits) so 900 to 2300 in a week. Had to go to principal and got it down to 800 every 6 months, and i am no 22.

Yeah,

I am 26 have a 2000 cavalier Z24 and a 1998 TransAm WS6, full coverage on both paying a total of 1600 a year. Only 500/year for the TransAm (reason is because i put that as my second car).

Through AllState.

I think we're in the same boat with the insurance, 160 a month under parents name for another couple of months, then it will double under my name. But I work full time and go to college, $$ isn't such a problem, time is!!
