that was going to be my question!

I have been on this board for some time now.. From my Porsche boards I would say stay far away from Centerforce.. they are the big name with no real quality or at least thats how it looks when the porsche guys used them..

Spec clutches.. hmm I would get them the instant my Z06 clutch goes.. So i would say.. maybe you are driving harder than the stage you got handles.. or maybe you dont know how to drive a stick well..
Not to knock your driving style but perhaps you havent learned to be nice to your clutch ya know? So dont get all defensive or anything.. just explain to us how you drive your car.. and saying "I KNOW HOW TO DRIVE" means jack here.. explain it and perhaps we can help you. be kewl

I love my spec II drives just like stock with more snap. I haven't put many miles on mine yet, so I can't say it'll last, did they give you a new one for free or at a discount price? How many miles did you put on. Mine engages near the floor so I suspect I have at least 50 K left if I drive her nice. Did you do the reccomended break-in, I know its a pain, but they told me without doing this you will shorten the lifespan dramatically.

Clutch!

OK Guys! I've been driving stick since the mid 60's on both dirt and macadam tracks and local drag strips. I own a 2000 SS with 11,000 miles on it. This is my baby but I can make the clutch slip without trying very hard. When I hear some good reports on something other than the stock unit I'm ready to swap the old one out. I heard the same thing about CenterForce clutches so I wouldn't go that way. Does anyone make a good kevlar unit for the LS-1? The only automatic vehicles I own are within my company so these kids that have never driven stick that work for me can get around!!

I have a McLeod, and it's super tight. Hasn't slipped once since I put it in 15K ago. Pretty sure it's Kevlar.

I have had a stock clutch, a centerforce dual friction clutch, and a two Spec stage III clutches in my car. You know how everyone feels about the stock so I won't even say anything about it. The centerforce that I had fell apart why I was giving a friend a ride in my car. The friction material on half of the clutch disk fell off. That's when I got a stage III spec. I know that this is a good clutch because when I replaced the slave cylinder on my car, I thought that I better change the clutch out at the same time since it is so difficult to do(C5), I saw that there was virtually no wear after 30,000 miles. I had the carbon version of the clutch. The car has 412 rwhp so I know that the car can definitely tear up a weaker clutch.

Dont worry, probably my driving is not helping either. But it is a stage I. The only wrong thing I did was run et streets, (launched at 5 1/2 rpm), after that, my clutch slips at a low rpm. I will probably try the stage II. I have a heavy foot too, its just that my stock clutch held more than the specs, and i ve had my car since 2000..... I confused...
