yes, personally, occsionally I'm guilty of speeding excessivly on open roads....but I'm consciously try to stop doing that on public roads.. its just not woth it. Add a second person out there right next to you, its definantly not worth it.

my car loves to be opened up.. i will never understand the type of person that buys a car never to fully appreciate its high speed manners..

I cruise on the freeway at about 85-95... often going into the 100's to eat up space.. I have raced in traffic (not he wisest but one of the most fun) against an M5 at 140+. No exaggeration no lie.. he was doing 3 lane changes at a time.. some people have no sense.. I was in my LT1.. On his bumper the entire time so I could aggrivate him..

Perhaps its location.. here in houston we have lots of area to open up your car... I know groups of motorcylists that have done the 92 mile loop around houston on our Beltway toll road in 28min.. you do the math.. avg speed is wicked.. we have that luxury... i guess.

Go to a local track, run the 1320 the way it's supposed to be done. Your trap lights up, you win. No way to dispute it. And you each get a timeslip to show the people at work.
ya 1 mile rolling start...wtf thats what i said....

lmao go brag to work with your timeslips

I'm with KenS on this one. I too have been trying to keep my "assclowning" to a minumum - too close too many times.....and what scares me most is im so used to pushing cars to their limits when **** hits the fan, it really doesnt scare me that much anymore. i just say "few, that was close, lets try it again" whereas two years ago my hands and legs would have been shaking....
So, id say scratch the 1 miler....

But hey, have you ever thought hes just putting up a front about not knowing too much about cars?? Maybe this guy knows his crap and is just settin you up for an easy $100. Just make sure yer not gettin husseled. and GOOD LUCK!!

i dont know too much about the 240 but i think the 91 was the year that is most common with the engine swap..i think they changed the headlights in 95 and they looked more like the silvia in earlier years and easier to modify..but i dont know..compare the wieghts at cars.com
his is RWD so he will have some traction problems if you go from a stop

Did some surfin on the 240 boards and found a nice phat turbo is a common one. My guess if he wants a roll and a mile long... Hes got a rather large turbo and some tall gears. I don't think he wants to catch up but to see if he can pull you after the spool and keep pullin. Funny thing is, they don't seem to have a high top end. Guess he could have built a highway cruiser. Who knows about older men and money though. He may just want to see if you have the kahonas to do it.. I would say give it a shot..

Go to the track. Racing on public roads endangers others as well as yourself.

And why would you want to spend $500 on spray to make sure you don't loose $100. Let alone the risk of damaging your LS1.

If you do go for the mile, make sure it's on an interstate so that you know that nobody's gonna pull out in front of you from a side road when you're doing 162. You also have a lot more run off room on an interstate. You can stop and wait for a couple minutes to be sure that no cars are in front of you before you even start. He might be thinking that you have a 100MPH limiter or something and that he can do 125 and pass you at the end of a mile. Who knows?

There's only 1 way to find out. Just try to be safe about it.

He wants a rolling start because he doesn't have the torque for a decent launch. He figures he has the hp to top out higher than you and will need a mile to beat you. A rolling start is a good way for him to do it. If you go with a 1/4 mile at the track, I think you'll have him at the launch, and he'll never catch you. If major work was done to it, you might have a problem. Let us know what happens, if anything.
