2000 Z28 with NO power options

I am looking into a 2000 Z28 M6 with 39k miles. The kicker is it doesnt have power windows or locks. How hard would it be to install them? Is is more cost effective to find a car that already has them? Thanks everyone!

hey, bud! w/o those options, you are saving a little weight! power stuff adds weight. I personallt am too lazy to crank down my windows, though. Is it a hardtop by any chance? If so, they are kinda' hard to find sometimes. My brother in law has a hardtop SS and he has done some weight reduction. I sometimes wish I had gone that route(hardtop, no options) so I could make it a little more radical. You can add power windows, but it will be a little pricy. Plus, those F body doors are a bit** to work inside. I know from experience. Getting the regulators in the exactly right spot, and aligning the glass would be a nightmnare I would think, not to mention the electrical end of things. Dont even get me started on the locks!!!!! Id just keep em manual, and tell your buddies that its a "factory prepped, no frills racer! lol " Just my 2 cents! Good luck!

I'd rather replace one every few years then be one every day

But seriously if your gonna race your car at a track then you have a car most racers want. One with some natural weight reduction. If your not gonna be big in racing the car then your better off passing on that car and finding another. 90% or better LS1's will have power everything so it shouldn't take long to find another car you like.

Good Luck

When I worked at checy in tallahassee a few years ago... I took a used 99 SS on trade with 6-speed, hardtop, no power, no CD, no power seat, just A/C

But it was a honest to god SS camaro..VIN matched.... no options... all performace...

Get this a guy traded a fully LOADED auto T/A with t-tops for this car. and paid more money for it....

Said he wanted a race car....

But the T/A had about 300lbs on that SS, i would guess

Check the option code sticker on the driver door. Since it's a 6spd with no options it could be a 1LE Z28 (Rare) 2000 was the last year they offered this option on an F-body.

My car has no t-tops no power anything has no monsoon sub, it is a 2000 ss. I thought i had a 1le car, someone asked me is that a 1le car i had no idea what they were talking about so i did some research to find out. What I found is there is no 1le cars made in 2000 at all.
This is were I did my research at it applies to all of our cars from 99-02, it gives a complete breakdown of colors packages etc...

it takes all of 10 seconds to look on your drivers side door to see if it lists 1LE as a code just like it'll say LS1 or LT1 these are option codes...not sure what years they were and werent made but thats the easiest way to check to be certain one way or the other.

Yup.

What comes to the original question...

Is is more cost effective to find a car that already has them?
Yes. If you want/need them, it is definetely more cost effective to find a car which already has them.

1999 was the last year GM built any 1LE cars, so it is not a 1LE.

Sounds like a great car, but strippers are not as light as you might think. In stock trim, my '98 1LE weighed 3360 with just over 3/4 tank on the gauge. My '01 T/A, which is loaded with articulating seats and everything, weighed 3490 with 3/4 tank on the same scales. Yes it is 130 pounds, but I would trade that for cc, pw, and pl on a daily driver anytime.

Bought my Z (in sig) last August with 7500 miles on it for under $14,000, I don't regret it one bit. Though I am an old guy and pretty much all of my vehicles haven't had all those doo-dads. Heck, I even drove it in the winter up here in the Magical Mitten WITHOUT TRACTION CONTROL !
