Post 2000 SS Concerns

I'am looking at a very low milage 00 SS that is for sale. Are there any problems with the motors/drivetrains that I should know about? Thanks for any and all help.

Enjoy your cars.

Cool

Got mine with 17K miles in May 2002. It now has 21K.

No problems so far with the exception of a faulty spark plug which caused the engine to run rough. I got it from the dealership that way.
You would think they would've noticed that and taken care of it before I picked it up.
I brought it to the shop the following day.

You know what rental car they gave me? A stupid Geo Metro! I paid $5 more to get a base model cavilier. What a joke!
Now the dealership doesn't have a 100% customer satisfaction because of me! Stupid dealers.

The main problem any of these cars have is
rotor warpage. The brake rotors will warp
and cause pulsing when brakes are applied.
I've got a '98 Z with 35k miles and the
brakes pulse with light pressure & high
speed ( > 60mph ). Thats the only thing I
could tell you to look for.

Most of the problems are the same that exist for other LS1 years. The only odd one might be the oil pump failure - though rare, it happens on 98-00 cars. '01-02 cars got an upgraded pump that reduced the problem.
