I don't but a friend does. It runs fine, a little rough though.

If you are thinking about getting one, i'd get some of the basic mods done first. They will be cheaper too.
-Cold Air Induction
-Cutout
-3.42 or 3.73 gears
-Hypertech Power Programmer 3 (some people say it doesn't do anything, but i did it and it helped a lot. It works a lot better on automatics than manuals.)
-Headers
-y-pipe

After all that, i MIGHT consider a convertor. The stock one is pretty good. But you don't need to stall it high! Hold it at like 2000 rpms to launch. It will be fine.

from what i've seen, it seems to be a fairly good working way to go. personally i'd deffinitly go with the converter before the gear.

Unhappy OOPS.BAD IDEA?

I PUT A 2800 IN MY 99 Z AND IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS I NOT LONGER HAD A TRANSMISSION. THE TRANNY SHOP SAID IT EXPLODED AND TOOK OUT THE TRANNY. THE PIECES WENT THRU THE PUMP AND ATE IT DOWN TO NOTHING. I KNOW THIS IS NOTS NORMAL BUT IT SURE HAPPENED AND OF COURSE THE CONVERTER SHOP IS NOT GOING TO ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBLITY. GUESS WHO IS OUT THE 1600 BUCK FOR THE TRANNY REBUILD.

Thats why I'd get other stuff first. A converter is also a big deal to install. Less can go wrong with the other mods.

Isn't that a little slow (mph) for a low 12 sec. pass?

Check sig. I ran 12.8's before the headers and 3.42's. I have the Yank TT3000 for sale if interested.

I got a Yank 2800 and everyting is fine. No exploded trans or anything. One down side is the cost to replace tires though!

hey i was just wondering what kind and size tires did you use to get those numbers because i'd think the only way you'd get numbers like that with the mods that you have done is if you were to have used some decently good size slicks.

MPH seems right, because he is using a converter. Launches hard, but doesn't climb that hard, that's why MPH is low. It's not an all motor pass exactly. Also, I agree, he must've used some slicks. Theres a guy here in Tulsa who ran an 11.7 without headers. Basically same boltons as this guy ran. He cut a 1.58 60' with like a 4200 stall, LS6 Cam, and a few other things.
