Hoping someone can help me out here. I have a 1998 Z28 with about 103,000 miles on it and after sitting for the last several months over the crazy winter we had here in Jersey, I started it up last weekend only to have it idle at 2100 and not drop down to normal. The car was my dads and sat for about 4years before I took ownership of it about 1 1/2 years ago. The car ran great in the fall before I parked it. Trying to fix it myself and was wondering if anyone may know of possible causes especially since it ran good before I parked it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks---Haven't checked codes (Dad was motorhead---I did not inherit any of his mechanical genes). Guess I am learning as I go. Was hoping to see if someone has had the same problem in the past.

 

Was the battery unhooked or go dead? My 97 went dead and acted like you describe. Drove it a couple miles and it relearned its idle.
