yes a small and large turbo is what i was talking about and i was thinking about a 3.43 gearing transmission. My buddy runs that in his 1980 stang. yes i know it is a mustang but that car has got the most wicked launch for a car with only 380hp. I figure chevy makes something close to that for strip cars. Do you know anything about any of this.

I dont have much to say in this thread, but I will say 2 things.

1. your not going to pull the front wheels on street tires, unless you put hydraulics on it. lol

2. There's a reason the rx7's and supra's looking to make big power dump the little and big turbo's and go with a properly sized single. and remember, you dont have a 3.0l motor trying to spool a turbo making 6, 7, 800 hp. you have a v8 5.7-6.0l. big difference, especially if an auto and properly sized converter. or a stick with a 2 step rev limiter to make some boost at the line.

I know this is an old post but my advice of how to build a car to pull the front wheels.
1. Install a 9" rearend with 4 link suspension and around a 3.73 rear end gear. Also some good drag radials will be needed
2. Build your automatic trans to handle some decent power and transbrake is a MUST so that your car can be revved and the car will not roll until you release the button. Stall converter should probably be somewhere around 3000-4500
3. Do anything you can to lighten up the front end, and anything you can to stiffen the chassis of the car to keep it from "twisting" on launch
4. You do not need more than 400-450hp to pull the front wheels, I have done it in my 2000 z28 with similar build and 347rwhp I was running 1/8 mile track and I had 4.10 rearend gears and I was pulling mid 7 second to low 7 second 1/8 mile times. I have video somewhere of it packing the front tires off the line

Doing a build like your talking with as much power as you can make out of an LSx engine with power adders can make it VERY difficult to get traction on small tires especially not with street tires. Hope your build turned out well and you found what you was looking for 3 years ago

Jonathan Atkins of Tick Performance has run high 6’s at over 210 MPH with a manually shifted Gen 2 LT1 block. Destroked to 329 cubic inches, turbo, filled block, estimated at 1,800 - 2,000 HP. I've seen in person, and driven, a 30th Anniversary SS, 383ci, non-filled block, huge Vortech S/C, making 1,125 HP at the flywheel. And that was 20 years ago. The LT1 block apparently inherited features of the Gen 1 SBC BowTie block.
