....... Anyways, how do they work, and how well do they work. Also, is it safe to buy a used one? Thanks alot!

I wouldn't buy a used one...that's just me...as for them working well...it works best with a HPP3, LS1edit or any other tuning...this way you can adjust it so your fans will come one earlier...other than that without tuning your car will run a little cooler...

i used the hypertech 160° thermo in conjunction with the HPP3 install. i don't know that the thermo alone will get you much without the power programming and fan programming. it runs a little cooler now, noticeable on the stock temp gauge.

Well...alot of guys do that mod without a programmer...it just works better...IMO it's a cheap good mod....do it, I did
Good luck man
You don't need an HPP3 to get the fans to come on earlier. You can buy the $60 SLP fan-switch mod which allows you to turn on your cooling fan manually, and when the switch is off, the fans act automatically ...
I myself have the 160 themrostat and noticed a huge drop in temp during highway driving but no difference in stop and go city driving ...
I haven't bought the fan switch yet but plan to. Anyone else out there buy it and install themselves, how long did it take? Easy to do?

A 160 will begin trying to cool the car at 160 but doesn't mean it will make the car run at 160. Every car finds it's own spot. Keep in mind on the LS1 running a 160 may over time cause engine problems because the engine parts aren't being allowed to expand from the heat. There is a certain amount of heat compensation the factory took into account whent hey built the engine. And the LS! being mostly aluminum you already discharging heat a lot better than an LT1 let's say.
Just some food for thought. I run the 180 myself.

The switch is cool 2 speeds of fan also.
I run a bottle of water wetter with a 90/10 mix of water to antifreeze and going by my predator my car runs about 190-193* all the time. BTW the gage always reads 210* The car never drops off power even when I hot-lap it at the local track and the temp never climbs over 193*.
