15's for drag tires?

I know I can get 15's on the rear by grinding down the calipers and I have no problem with that but how wide can I get?
I want to get 15X12's with some 315 BFG DRs, or will I have to go with 15x10's?

I'm doing just fine with 15x8 running a 275/50/15.

I can pull the front-left wheel an inch or two from the ground. They get traction just fine

Dang what tires are you running? part of the reason I wanted the wide ones is for looks, but I bet 15x8's and 275's are about half the price, which is very appealing. do you think the wider tires would just create drag and mabye a trashed rear end?

BFG Comp T/A Drag Radials. I absolutely love them! I've had several sets of Nittos and can't believe I actually ran them. Now, BFGs have a helluva shorter street life, but I hardly drive the car anyways and I bought them for race tires with streetability.

$130/each from Jegs or Tirerack.com in 275/50/15. But the biggest reason they hook better too is because of the immense sidewall they have for flex, especially when compared to the small sidewall of low profile 17" tires.

As for the rolling resistance, 315s are too big unless you make lots of power and need the traction. I actually had 315 BFG DRs until last week when I put the Pro Stars and 275s on. I've heard from several reliable sources running 9-10 second F-Bodies that 315s are worth up to .3 in the quarter mile due to their huge footprint and extra resistance.

As for the 275s, they still look really meaty and wide.

Those are from last weekend, they show the new rim/tire setup quite well.

Lemme know if you have anymore questions

If you want 15's and want them pretty cheap, check with some bike racers in your area.

There's a guy here who run 15 inch slicks on his bike. He make 5 passes on each tire, then sells it dirt cheap. A couple of guys around here buy them for their 15" track rims and get a lot more use out of them.
