135000 to many for the ls1
98 Z28 for $5K?
If it's otherwise in good shape, I'd be all over it.
Haven't heard from too many LS1's with such high mileage, but since LT1 goes well over 200K w/proper maintenance, I would assume LS1 would at least the same.
There is actually a thread either on the first or second page here about mileages on LS1's. Might want to check that out, too.
If the engine goes south, you can replace that for about 2-3K, so you'd still be in the 7-8K range. Not bad at all.
Good luck!

I would jump all over that if the rest of the car is ok. Like 95grnz said you can always dump a motor in for 3k and a trans in for 2k. That would still be a awesome car for 10k. But I say get it and bleed every last mile out of that engine you can.
As long as everything else is holding up... I just bought an 01 Z with 83K miles on it, so we'll see how that is once I get it up to PA. Imean, you're gonna want to rip apart the engine and rear anyway...
The problem with buying a Camaro with that high of mileage isnt really the engine. Its proven the LT1s and LS1s can go a long time with proper maintenance, its the rest of the car, and the wonderful GM engineering that doesnt hold up too well to years of abuse. If the car was taken care of then, by all means go for it, however if you are thinking of buying this as your only source of transportation and you know nothing of the previous owner, beware....

My family owns a lot of GM cars which they keep until they're cosmetically unattractive. All of the GMs people in my family have, have been reliable up to trade in time which is around 200,000 miles. All the GM V8s have been great and have held up well. With that said, and knowing how technologically sophistacted the LS1 is, I'd say you should buy that car.
