12's
last weekend I ran my car at Lapeer Dragway in Michigan, I had never raced at the strip before.
I had a best time of 13.447 @104, backed up by a 13.474@104 & 13.528@ 105. The car is stock other than a K&N and the free ram air mod. I would like to get it into the 12's without draining my pocketbook. Even as we speak my cousin is trying all he can do to beat me in his Mustang, because I embarassed him at the track. What are some suggestions?

It is pretty easy to get your car to 12's.
Here's what you need: lid, cutout/catback, higher stall and sticky tires.
Maybe not even all of them. Add some LT's and you;ll have no problem.
I'm sure other guys will pitch in w/more suggestions.

A lid, converter and some tires should get you into the 12's pretty easily. We have our lids on special righ now for $99. I can get you into a TCI 3000 converter and tranny cooler for $519.98. I can get those shipped to your door for $643.98. Add some tires that will hook at the track and you will see some 12's.

You need at least a 3.42 under there , but I would go ahead and drop a 3.73 in .

Get a lid and a power programmer so you can change up the shift points and firm up the shifts and you should be damn close! Iam sure the cold dry air up their will allow you to run 12's with those two mods. If that gets you within a tenth or so then get a catback and you will have your 12's!
Then get ready....you will want mid 12's then low 12's and finally 11's in a street car that is dead reliable and that is very attainable.
My buddy has a 35th A4 with 3.23's, 3200 stall, TR220 cam, mac mid lengths, borla cat back, pulley, lid, 160 thermo... He drives the car all the time no problems and has run a 12.16@110. and that was before the cam! Just waiting for the weather to cool down and Iam sure he will get his 11.xx@114.xx! Mikie, I'm afraid a set of 3.73's won't do it on their own
. I actually had 3.73's in my car for about 2 months earlier this summer, and I went to the track and ran the EXACT same time as posted in my sig, but actually 1 mph slower, and 60' times between 2.0 - 2.1
. IMO, that's not much improvement, BUT, if I had have put TIRES on the car, I think I would have hit 12's almost certainly.
However, the gears were Richmond's and they whined like hell, so I got sick of the noise and decided to swap back the factory gears (since I actually do more highway driving than I thought I did?!
) and I'll look at other means of putting power to the ground right now such as tires, LCA brackets, *maybe a TC*, and eventually more motor!!
