1.8rr on the LS6 camshaft?

i've been throwing around the LS6 cam (possibly the H/C/I setup in Summit). and i was wondering if it is possible to install the 1.8rr on that cam? i think it would be nice to have about .580" lift on the LS6 cam profile.

i know some companies advise against the rockers due to high ramp rates. anyone know if this pertains to the LS6 cam profile as well?

i say i'd like to do this because i've got springs good for .600" lift, and i would like to see what kind of gains i can get with bolt ons and upgraded rockers. and then in the future upgrade the cam and heads and would probably swap those springs onto the LS6 heads (since the package comes with ls6 springs good to .550").

thanks guys.

i'd say screw 1.8 rr's, if youre going with a cam get a bigger cam and not 1.8's... just my opinion, get a MTI stealth II cam if you want a quieter cam, if you want a bigger sounding setup get something like the TSP torquer cam.

Re: 1.8rr on the LS6 camshaft?

Remember the LS6 cam is essentially a stock cam ... just bigger than what is stock on the f-bodies.

The cam only has 3 things going for it, that can justify the using it over other cams, if you are going to make the effort to swap out a cam.

First is cost ... you just wiped out that justification by anteing up for rockers and stronger springs.

Second is durablity, relatively low lift and mild ramps, means a safe cam with a mild spring - back to the cost thing. You've already stepped up to a bigger spring and with the higher lift and faster ramp the RR will give you, you've essentaily eliminated this advantage. Beside you spent the jack for the stronger springs.

Third, is the LS6 cam is essentially plug and play ... no tuning required. And will still be so even with the 1.8 rockers ... since you already eliminated the first two justifications for going with a LS6 by adding rockers, this could be your only rational for going with the LS6 ... but all things considered you can still find a good mild cam that won't require tuning that will give you more power and cost less that going with a LS6 cam and rockers ...

Good Luck
