1/4 mile times

I just recently moved to Idaho where the elevation is around 3500ft. I haven't taken my car to the track yet but I plan on going when it opens. What I was wondering is how will the elevation affect my times. What would a respectable time to run be for a stock a4 car with 3.23 gears and cutouts.

Yes,the high elevation will definately affect your times. At 3500ft you can expect to see some mid-14's.

yeah, I remember when that stealth camaro in colorado ran a 9.something at like 5600 feet. Everyone was saying that he should be in the 8s at sea level.

Most of the stock f-bodys over there are running low 14's high 13's. I am in Pocatello at 4500 ft and the best I can run is 14.1. If you convert that to sea level times it's about 13.4. Not bad as I am stock and baby the car. Figure a 3% hp loss for every 1000 ft for n/a cars. Your correction factor would be .9575 13.9 sec x .9575=13.3 sec at sea level.

Watch out for supercharged or turbocharged cars because they are not affected much at all. My GTP runs the same times up here as it does at sea level (within a tenth).
