i have an 02 z28 and im having some transmission problems. its a 6 spd v8 ls1 engine.. it pops out of reverse and grinds in 5th and 6th gear. what might the problem be with this? am i better off getting a new transmission or rebuilding it .. also where should i go to get the parts or new transmission that i need. im not to familiar with transmissions so if you could help out with any info, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

 

They are not all that hard to rebuild. I am also an ase master tech so it might be alot harder for a rookie or a novice to try. A good transmission shop doesn't charge all that much to overhaul it. As long as there is no major part failures they go for around $700-1100. get an upgrade kit when u build it.
