02 OEM flywheel question
02 OEM flywheel question
I read the 02 LS1 Hawks had SLP's lightweight flywheels factory issue. Also that the 02 'F' motors used Z06 blocks and clutches and used better parts & are better built than previous years. Can anyone inform me on this and if any "new/better" parts are used for the final production year versus 01 and ealier cars.
If the 02 Hawks had the SLP lighter (aluminum?)flywheel, does that go for the SS and Z28, T/A & Formula as well?????
I ask because I want an 02 Hawk but may settle for the SS if the deal is good.

Re: 02 OEM flywheel question
Not sure about the flywheel.
Not all 02's came with the LS6 block but some did.The LS6 block wont do you any more good then the LS1 block.
They did come with the LS6 clutch in 02.
The clutch and intake are the 2 better things about the 01-02's. As for the rest of the car it isnt any better.

Re: 02 OEM flywheel question
Pistons changed dimensions and gained an antiscuff coating to try to reduce knock for 02,not sure if that applies to '01 also, and main bearing clearances had been tightened in '01 for same reason.
