to Z or not to Z?

Hey guys have a weird question for you. I purchased a black 1994 Camaro. It has the LT1 with manual 6 speed. The title states Z28 and when I contacted the dealership for vin info, they said was a loaded Z28, with factory alarm, power windows, etc. It just doesn't have t-tops. My question is... were there any Z28's like this one... with absolutely NO Z28 emblems anywhere? There isn't one on the glove box, or interior.and there are none on the exterior either?! It doesn't appear to have any prior damage, so I doubt there are any body panel replacements (omitting the emblems).....

Someone probably removed them for a sleeper look.. Or it's been repainted and the emblems never put back on.

Re: to Z or not to Z?

Well, I have done paint and body for over 20 years, and I know what to look for when it comes to re-paint and/or repair work..that is why I posed this question...because the obvious (re-paint, removal) do not seem to be the case. How would one tell if this isn't a car that was factory prepped this way (i.e. police car, service vehicle)? I understand that some of these came with the emblems omitted. Aren't there supposed to be emblem(s) inside the car (dash, glove box)?

It could be a B4C --> Z28 (shown on title) but w/o emblems.

No t-tops on mine but has leather and 6-spd.

In 1994 the B4C cars came without fog lights and were kinda stripped down. He said his is optioned out so I figured it was not B4C.

Re: to Z or not to Z?

Take the car to GM. Give them the VIN. They will run a report - if option code B4C shows up that's what it is.

I think option B4C should also show up in the glove box (option codes avail there).

Mine is a '95 with fog lights... don't know about the '94's.

mine doesn't have leather..it's the gray/black cloth... does have fog lights.. I'll check the glovebox when I get home.. so it'll show B4C as an option in the glove box?

I wasn't even aware that the Z came without T-tops. I've never seen that B4

Re: to Z or not to Z?

Hey guys! Mystery solved.. I checked the glove box codes and it has B4C right after the A90 code.. so it's a B4C. Is there a site that I can see what all the other codes mean too?

Re: to Z or not to Z?

I'm shocked on the fog lights. I was 99% sure I remembered that the B4C option deleted them. I ordered a brand new Z in 95 and researched them carefully at that time. I wonder were they maybe added later, or maybe I'm just wrong?

The 1993-1997 B4C's came with fog lights, the 1LE option deleted them.

Ok, I was confused between the 1LE and B4C. Thanks for the info.

I think it's just a matter of most being ordered with t-tops, not that Z's always came with them.

I ordered my '02 without t-tops (they were an option that year, as well as '01, but I couldn't say about other years)
