Exclamation YESSS!! I'm an idiot

So i took apart my Dash, got the white face gauges, Figured while i was there
I'd change my lights, the 161's in the dash. Now remember, i am an idiot. So they were hard to get out. By Looking at their replacements it looked like they pop in and pop out? I had to wiggle them to get them out, remember i am an idiot because i cant seem to change a simple light. So i wiggle out the old ones, pop in the new ones, all excited because of the new white face gauges. Turn off the lights, start the car, turn on the head lights.......nothing, only lights i didnt change worked...hmmm...maybe i didnt get them in all the way....hmmm....needless to say, remember i am an idiot, nothing i did worked. I even had a brain spurt, got smart, changed to ones that i knew would light up, put it in one that wasnt lighting, got all excited, turn the key, put on the lights.....nothing. Help an idiot out, what did i do wrong. Are those lights Soldered? did i mess up those sockets? by the way, the white faces look great....if Paris Hilton was there she would have said....thats HOT!!

Those bulbs are tack welded to the bottom of the socket, that's why you had a hard time pulling them out. You cannot just insert the new bulbs. They will not make contact with the socket contacts.

Re: YESSS!! I'm an idiot

Your only choice now is going to be to go to the dealership and buy the lights from them. You might want to try your local auto parts store first though, they might have them. It's a one piece part (bulb, and fitting), so you can't just yank the bulbs out and put new ones. Soldering the leads to the contact points is too hard to do and will take too long also. Just save your time and buy the appropriate replacement bulbs.

So the Seven i took out, i thought were 194's, are they? or are they 161? I think the warning lights are 161, the Instrument illumination is 194? Can't i use these plug and play 194's from www.SuperBrightLeds.com?

thanks for your help, now i REALLY feel like an Idiot!

Im not sure what kind of bulb that would be, but if its not the plastic fitting along with the bulb, then its not it. Remember, the plastic fitting, and bulb need to be a single piece. Im not sure that these units have a standarized part number like most other bulbs.
