Wtf gm
Re: Wtf gm
I asked on another forum, and apparently mitsubishi electronics made a lot of the optical sensors for the optis. They were the most reliable of the sensors made, and are no longer made.
To bad this one is the property of Napa and needs to go back for core credit or i would keep it as a spare.
I hope the opti2 I switched to back in '98 has this sensor. 15yrs and 38k miles later I would say so!!

Re: Wtf gm
Mitsubishi is an enormous conglomerate. They make everything from heavy equipment to tiny electronic components, and in general they're well known for good products. Their car division comes up wanting these days, but there's nothing wrong with having a Mitsubishi sensor.

Quoting from Injuneer:
Actually, the Opti concept was developed by Diamond Star Motors, a collaboration of Chrysler Motors and Mitsubishi. They used it on the 3.0L V6 engine in numerous Chrysler and Mitsubishi late 1980's vehicles. The key difference between the Chrysler/Mitsubishi design was the fact they had the common sense to locate it on top of the engine, and not under the water pump.
