Would an overly crappy exhaust cause more heat?
Would an overly crappy exhaust cause more heat?
My car runs kinda hot(I think) Like 220-240 idling for a long time, fan works, outside temp today is 84 degrees.
I've only got a 305 tbi, exhaust was a cheap one a texaco garage put on.

Doubt its the radiator, temps have been like this for a while, think I've had it flushed 2 times since its started to be hot.
Is replacing a water pump fairly easy for an idiot?
EDIT: I'll have to drain the coolant for that right? SOunds like a good time to add a 160 thermostat, or not worth it?

umm........
220-240 is normal for a 89 TBI f-bod, the fan doesn't come on till 230-235
I had a 87 regal t-type fan switch in mine, turned the fan on at about 210-215

I just dont remember it being that hot before.
Re: Would an overly crappy exhaust cause more heat?
My 90 L03 Camaro runs 220-240 in 80-90 deg. weather, when idiling for very long. Out on the highway though, normal operating temperature is around 195-200 degrees. I would say our cars are normal. I think it is the nature of the L03 to get pretty hot at times.
