Wiring/Starter Issue

Ok so let me lay down my whole dilemma. My car started blowing fuses. I figured dead short. I found one dead short and fixed it. I go to hook the battery back up and the starter turns over. I go ahead and put in a new starter thinking maybe this one is bad. Same thing. I then find 3 burnt wires in the harness for the 02/knock sensor/starter etc. I pull it all apart and cut those wires and put in a piece of wire reattching each of them I hook up the purple wire to the starter to make sure and it's doing the same thing??? Is it possible it messed up that starter by having such a bad short like that? I didn't change around one of the wires on the starter so I don't think I have a constant 12v source anywhere. I'm so out of ideas right now

yes you have a possible stuck relay. Your PASSKEY II Module sends the s terminal power on the starter (pur[le wire) through a relay. Could also be a bad starter switch too, I would test the relay 1st.

Re: Wiring/Starter Issue

You should be checking the purple wire for a constant 12v. It should only have power when the key is in the START position. Make sure you are putting the wires on the starter on the correct terminals.

Re: Wiring/Starter Issue

I fixed it. Turned out the ground wire in the same harness as the purple wire was not grounded. Somehow giving the purple wire a constant 12 volts is all I can guess. Thanks for the help though guys
