Re: Wiring schematic for crankshaft sensor?!?!

you using the cranksensor on the bottem of front cover, or the optical 4x sensor in the opti spark distributor.

i think you would have better luck using the 4x optical sensor, it is alot more accurate then the crank sensor.

the crank sensors on the 96+ engines are for emmissions for the most part. by using cam/crank sensors the pcm can detect which cylinders missfire, but the ECU still uses the optical signals from the distributor for ignition timing control.

in reply to my last message, using the low resolution signal isn't that easy. it has an odd pattern to it i never realized.

check out this website about it, also, search the www.msefi.com site for lt1 and optical, there are a few writeups about using the low resolution signal.

good luck

i appreciate your input, but there is no code yet for the megasquirt to accept the different length slots in the opti's low res portion of the wheel, this is why im trying to use the crank sensor, which btw i figured the wiring out but i cannot get the megasquirt to accept its signal...
