wiring harness compatability?

i have a 94 Formula (no motor or engine harness) and we are going to put a 96 motor and engine harness and computer in it. how compatable are these two (94 body harness mated w/ 96 engine harness)? is it just a plug and play deal?
all i really need is for the guage cluster to work, all else i have removed. the car will be a total race car and we are trying to use only parts we have laying around.
feedback please.

You will have to swap a few wires around on the engine harness conectors under the dash, other than that I think you'll be good.

from what i've found over the last few days is:
the PCM pinouts for the 94-97 PCM's are the same except that the 96-97 PCM's have additional circuits the 94-95 PCM's dont, and those are on pins that are not used on the 94-95 PCM's.
so why would it not work?
we will find out in a few weeks when we get to that point in the build.

It will work, except as noted above, where the body connectors enter the passenger compartment. There are significant differences in those pinouts that need to be addressed. Shoebox has information on his website showing the various connectors, pinouts, etc.

He's installing a 96 engine, a 96 harness and a 96 PCM.... it will have all the correct wiring. The problem will not be in the engine compartment. The problem will be interfacing with the body connectors.
