Wiper switch 93-97

Has any one ever replaced the wiper switch on a 93-97 F Body? I'd like to know what all has to come off. Looks like the steering wheel will have to be pulled.

I'm pretty sure you can service it without going pulling the wheel. There is a cover that surrounds the stalk that has to come off. Then I believe there is a screw that holds the stalk to the mount in the steering column. The stalk should just pull out, then disconnect the wire.

I haven't done this myself but I remember reading about it in the shop manual.

The stalk is already off but I can't seem to find the screw that holds the switch in place. The only part off the cover I can get off is the back part.

Isn't the wiper switch you are referring to within the stalk itself?

No The stalk goes into the wiper switch which is also the part that allows the turn signals to operate. There is a bracket that kind of holds everything in place that broke in half so now I can't use the turn signals and everything is kind of just hanging out. I fixed it once with JB Weld and some small metal strips but it broke again.

OK I see. I thought the switch was part of the stalk. Then you might have to take the wheel off to get to it.

I can check to see what the shop manual says to do when I get home today.

The top of the steering column has to come off to get to the pivot and pulse switch.

How the heck does the top of the steering column come off? My Hanies manual doesn't have any info and I cant see any way when I look at it.

I can't imagine a Haynes does not show how to dissassemble the column. If not, you need a better (like factory) manual. Steering wheel, lock plate, various and sundry items have to be removed to get down to the switch.
