Wiper Motor Question

I have replaced the wiper motor twice now on my 97 T/A, but it still seems like it is operating abnormally. My question is when the wipers are on intermitent, when they go down to the point where they pause do they stop there or do they move back up a couple inches? On both motors that I have put in my car they jump back up about 4-5 inches. I don't remember the original motor doing that. Any ideas? I would really like to know if other peoples wipers do this as well. Thanks

Matt

Re: Wiper Motor Question

When I turn my wipers on they lift up 3 or so inches from their resting spot, wipe, go back to the 3 inches above, wipe, etc... Turned off they obviously go down all the way.

Re: Wiper Motor Question

The wiper motor has a park position, when the wipers are engaged, they will move up several inches and stay at that postion while you have your wipers on. When you turn them off completely, they will go back to their park position. I hope you haven't been buying your wiper motors from GM, for the wiper motor/module set it cost $350. I'm looking for one in junk yards right now.

Re: Wiper Motor Question

No, I have gotten the two wiper motors from Advance Auto (both remanufactured units) for $75 + $25 core. They come up out of the park position fine and go to the rest position if you will. When they are on intermittent though they come back to that rest position about 3" above park and then jump up another couple inches on the windshield. It doesn't sound like this is normal from what you are saying and unfortunately I can't remember what the original was like. I may be returning another motor and going somewhere else for one. Thanks for the replies.
