Wiper arms are going to be the death of me, pls help :(

Posted this in other forums, want to see if I can find someone who has changed the motor and reset the position:

I have tried sooooooo many times and I cant get my wiper arms to get into the right positions. First off they miss two spots towards the bottom of the blade at the top of the swing, I checked the the top is pressing so hard that the bottom lifts up

Second, when they cycle through they come down but do not stop in one spot, the go past the stop spot then come back....on my fiances camaro it comes back down and perfectly stops in one spot. Today I had my drivers side wiper go off the side of the car like when the first motor broke, new motor is fine just went way out of line.

Is there ANY way to simply reset the position of these things? I was thinking run it with the arms off and let it reset, then turn wipers off and screw on the wiper arms in the off positions. Is there a prodecure or something? It is really driving me crazy and I just had an SQL test as well as a C++ project due Monday (10 hours of work this weekend)

THANKS for any help, seriously LOL

i've had the same problem, dont remember exactly how to fix it with out looking at it. seems there it 2 spots to mount the blade, if its in the wrong one it will do as you described and miss the spot at the top of the swing.

you should be able to put the arms on with the motor in the "rest" posotion like you said. but i thought they were keyed to go on in one position?

No key to mount I can see...I wish just about 100 small notches around the cone with a stud or whatever comin out of it that you mount the wiper arm on

you should be able to let the motor go the the off position and put the arm on where it goes. if your concerned after you put it on pick the arm up and turn on the wipers on to see if its going the right way. with them up the wont hurt anything. sometimes you just find the right spot through trial and error.

to fix the wiper not contacting the window all the way, you probably need to change wiper heads. My car had aftermarket wiper heads, and by that i mean the part that clips on to the arm and holds the blade. I went to a salvage yard and got GM wiper heads and put new blades in them and that corrected the wiping problem. Also i'm not 100% sure what you are saying the problem is with the positioning of them. You mention they aren't stopping right and they are going to far off the windshield. One thing i might recommend is make sure when you put your new motor in that you got the rubber mounting bushing seated correctly. My wipers would be all over the place, when they were on high they would almost go off the windshield and on the way down they would slap the plastic where they rest. I replaced the motor and that did nothing i finally figured out it was the mounting bushing weren't seated correctly. That allows the motor to rock back and forth changing the wipers travel area.
