Winter Storage?

I usually store my car in my own garage (unheated) and have never had any issues with mice, but do too a few winter projects I have going on I will be storing my car at a friends place which is heated (65-deg). He told me that do the the building being heated that he has mice issues and just wanted me to know.

I live in Northeast Ohio so the car will be stored from mid November to April. Any thoughs on what to do to keep the mice out ofthe car? Not sure moth ***** are an option due to the smell that never seems to go away.

Also, someone at work said not to remove the battery because the car may think it has been stolen and the "Theftlock II" will lock you out of the PCM and you wil have tow the car to the shop to have it cleard.

I have never head of this.......any thougts?

Thanks for any help.

Dryer sheets.... Lots of dryer sheets. Put baited traps around also. Check and replace as needed. Do NOT use poison... Only use actual traps... Sticky paper and snap traps.

If you want to take it to extremes...
Open the glove box and take off the panels under the dash. These are 2 common places they nest. Put the car up on jack stands and cover the area around it with open sticky traps.

I did all of the above one year and had no mice. I caught about 10 mice in snap traps and a frog on a sticky trap..... Not sure why there was a frog in a pole barn but there you go......

Re: Winter Storage?

Never heard of that- if that were the case every time you changed your battery you would have to get the car towed.

Theftloc has to do with the Delco radio. If a security code has been entered by the owner (could be a previous owner) and the battery goes dead or is removed, the code must be entered into the radio before it will function. Many radios have been rendered inoperable because of this. Unlocking a radio "protected" by TheftLoc can be done but it is best to remove the security code before disconnecting the battery. If you have a radio that has an unknown security code then you should search the forum for the process to recover the code.
