Windows working intermittently

I have a 1997 T/A, and the windows work sometimes. I can cycle the ignition on and off and occasionally they start working, sometimes they will just start working without the cycle. Seems if I turn ignition on with driver door opened, they will work more often, but when they do not work, it doesn't matter if I try from driver switch or passenger. I have also had a few issues where I turn the key on and the car/dash stays dead for a second or two, then everything powers on. Also recently it seems the A/C doesn't blow cold sometimes, when the windows also do not work.I Know this is a lot of phantom issues, and having somewhat of a 12v background from the audio side, I understand that most likely I had a corroded connection or wire somewhere, maybe loose, but I'm leaning towards corroded based on the quirks. I have replaced the wire that runs from the battery positive to the junction block near it, and connected both to the same post to eliminate the block itself as a potential issue, with no change. I had a similar issue years ago on a silverado, but the wire that fed the main fuse block was much easier to see and replace than on the T/A that has a million fusible links...any thoughts or suggestions?

97TAMONEYPIT,

My windows got intermittent, like yours. In my '98 Camaro, the Body Control Module (BCM) circuit board controls lots of functions, such as the windows. You may have the same minor problem. I did not have the other issues, but THIS is the help I got here, and it was right on the money:

Now it's all good, here. HTH.

Re: Windows working intermittently

Let's move this to the correct forum..... not an “LS1 / LS6...... Engine Tech” topic.

96 (same as 97) BCM diagram, courtesy of Shoebox:

If the audio system goes off at the same time as the windows, that points to the retained accessory power (RAP) section of the BCM. Problems with that part of the printed circuit board are common.
