When i removed the regulator the window seemed to have some type of tension on it. After i looked into it a little futher i discovered a coil tension spring that was slide onto a keyway on the regulator. Well i got the window motor replaced, put the spring on, but i think i need to put some sort of tension on the spring for it to work correctly because every time i close my door with the window up the spring falls off.
Does anyone know how to set up the tension on it?
I'll be pulling the passenger panel to take a look at it but figured i'd post here while i work.
Oh yeah it's a 1994 camaro.

 

You are correct. The short arm with the gear on it that ingages the drive motor needs to be install and the spring stressed before the new motor is installed. The motor drive gear will keep the short arm from moving. This assembly, then is installed into the door.
