window motor bad?

my driver side window is acting up, it rolls up then fall backs down and repeats the process the whole time i have the botton pressed. I took the door panel off and noticed the the gear on the motor and the gear on the regulator were slipping causeing it to slip back down a gear. i think maybe that the gears on the window motor are crap and maybe could fix the proberm with getting a new one. Could there be another reason why it would do that? the window has good clearance around the weatherstripping so i don't think that the window is out of alignment.

Re: window motor bad?

It's going to be either the gear on the motor or the teeth on the regulator (unless the regulator is bending). Hope for it to be the motor.

I would hope/bet so as well. Do you think it's even possible (within reason) that it would be the teeth on the regulator? It seems like if the two were to battle, that the motor should be designed to surrender... Unless of course, as they were designing these AMAZING window motors they went all out on the gears as well since they knew these motors would last forever.

when i looked at the regulator gear it was fine, so i'm assuming its the window motor gear. I just hope thats the only thing.
